1994 - 1999
FOURTH GENERATION: 1994–2004 - SN95 (New Edge)
For 1994, Mustang finally got a new body, albeit built on an improved version of the Fox platform. All new styling with numerous heritage elements such as the three element taillights, wider track, four wheel disc brakes and dual airbags. The main engine was the long standing 5.0L V8, until this was replaced by the all new 4.6L SOHC modular V8 in 1996. Ford’s third Indy Pace Car model also featured, in 1994. Also marketed through this model phase were Cobra and Cobra R performance models, plus special SVT models hand-built in limited numbers by Ford’s performance gurus. The ‘94-98 models were also marketed in Japan, resulting in a number arriving in NZ as imports.
