2023 Thirsty Acre Tavern - Kirwee

Mid Week run to Thirsty AcreTavern, Kirwee, Wednesday 3rd May.

A new tavern has risen from the ashes in small-town Canterbury – and it’s keeping the settlement’s history alive, starting with its name.Thirsty Acres opened on the old Kirwee Tavern site in March, more than three years after the historic 100-year-old watering hole burnt to the ground on Christmas Day 2019. The old country pub about 41km west of Christchurch started out as the Kirwee Hotel before becoming the Kirwee Tavern in the 70s.

Luck was on our side once again, with great weather and the sun pouring down on us seventeen Mustangs with V8's roaring gathered in Woodend. We set of heading to Rangoria on through to Cust then Oxford, Darfield, getting to our destination Kirwee. Here we met up with fellow mustang club members from Rolleston. 5 cars from Rolleston 44 club members in total filling the little pub to capacity. Great meals and fun with only one glass of wine finding the floor.
