Ford Secures Naming Rights Sponsor of 2020 National Mustang Convention
Even though the 2020 National Mustang Convention in Christchurch is still more than a year away, Ford New Zealand and local dealers Team Hutchinson Ford and Avon City Ford have together recognised the value and importance of this event by securing the naming rights and primary sponsorship role.
Accordingly the Convention will be known as the Ford National Mustang Convention 2020. The event takes place October 23-26 (Labour Weekend), 2020.
Managing Director of Ford New Zealand, Simon Rutherford, speaking on behalf of Ford, and Christchurch dealers Team Hutchinson Ford and Avon City Ford, emphasised the importance of their combined support for the Mustang brand, and the Mustang owners of New Zealand. “The 2014 Mustang Convention in Christchurch was a very special occasion, representing the 50th anniversary of the Mustang legend globally, and the long lead preview of the new 2015 RHD model. It’s great to renew the association again for 2020, building on the success of 2014 and being part of the fantastic rebuild and redevelopment of Christchurch City”.
Organisers, the Canterbury Mustang Owners Club, are delighted with this announcement. President Garry Jackson said “The decision by the Ford team, with very strong contributions from our two great local Ford dealerships, is a tremendous kick off point for us as we move into the detailed planning for next year’s convention. We value very highly the Ford relationship, and this support is greatly appreciated by all in the Mustang fraternity.”
The 2014 National Ford Mustang Convention, held in difficult circumstances in post quake Christchurch, attracted 225 Mustangs on display, making it the biggest ever in NZ. In 2020, the Canterbury Mustang Owners Club looks forward to showcasing the “new” Christchurch, with a number of exciting further announcements scheduled in coming months.
